Programme Overview
The MSc in Project Management at Muscat University is a professionally-aligned postgraduate programme designed for candidates seeking an advanced, industry-recognised qualification in project management. Delivered over 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time, the programme offers three specialisation pathways — General, Sustainable Energy, and Sustainable Logistics — enabling candidates to align their studies with their field of expertise and career ambitions.
The programme provides a distinctive professional stance through its alignment with the Project Management Institute (PMI), incorporating the content of two industry-recognised PMI certifications: the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and the Project Management Professional (PMP). Candidates who successfully complete the Sustainable Logistics pathway module in Operations Planning and Management are additionally awarded the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
Benchmarking against national and regional programmes confirms that this MSc is unique in its offering, being the only programme of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman and only the third of its kind in the GCC — with the potential to be the first PMI-aligned Master’s programme in Oman and the second in the GCC. The programme has been reviewed and endorsed by PMI and by an external academic reviewer from Sultan Qaboos University, and is aligned with Oman Vision 2040 and the UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities).
