About

Dr Maan Hayyan received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Technology—Baghdad. He then obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (Reaction Engineering) with Distinction from the University of Malaya (Ranked TOP 70 @ QS). Later, he joined the University of Malaya Centre for Ionic Liquids (UMCiL) as a Senior Researcher for one year. In August 2013, Dr. Hayyan was employed as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering/University of Malaya under the Environmental Engineering Programme. In September 2017, Dr Hayyan joined the Department of Chemical Engineering at Sohar University as Assistant Professor until August 2019. In the following September 2019, Dr Hayyan reported his duty as an academic staff at Muscat University. Dr. Hayyan has been recognized as one of the pioneering researchers in the fields of Deep Eutectic Solvents and Superoxide Ions. He is a peer reviewer for numerous ISI-indexed journals (80+) and has been assigned as an expert to evaluate proposals for prestigious international and governmental research agencies. He was awarded many gold medals from international exhibitions for research and innovation. His main interests are the generation and reactions of superoxide ions, in addition to applications pertaining to ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents.
