Muscat University hosted the British Council for the signing of an agreement for the University to become an IELTS Test Registration Centre. The Muscat University Vice-Chancellor Professor Khamis Al Yahyaee signed the agreement along with the British Council Country Director Helen Mehta.
Professor Khamis said, ‘we are delighted to sign this agreement with the British Council to become an IELTS Test Registration Centre. This agreement further exemplifies the flourishing partnership we have with the British Council to provide examinations to Omanis and residents at the university.’
The signing of the contract signals the next step in a very successful partnership with the British Council which delivers most of its Muscat-based English language examinations such as IELTs at the University. Test candidates are now able to register for the IELTs exam and then take the exam at Muscat University. As well as hosting English language exams in partnership with the British Council, Muscat University recently provided its high-quality IT suites for students sitting the ACCA examinations. The University was happy to support the British Council hosting ACCA exams as this aligns well with the University’s own programmes in Accounting and Finance.
He added, ‘The university always looks forward to increasing partnership opportunities with the leading institutions operating in the Sultanate and meeting their needs in accordance with the principle of exchanging common interests and in line with the aspirations of both sides in providing global education.’
On behalf of the British Council, Helen Mehta, Country Director stated that, ‘The accreditation of Muscat University as a British Council IELTS registration centre is an exceptional addition to the list of licensed centres in Oman. The partnership is an important step that reflects the British Council’s commitment to continue supporting the country’s higher education institutions.’ The IELTS test is the most popular test in the world to assess English language proficiency for non-native speakers, and it is internationally recognized by more than 10,000 institutions and universities around the world. The exam is also recognized by the leading universities inside and outside of Oman.
