Programme Overview
Chemical Engineering is the study of planning, designing and developing products and processes where chemical and physical changes occur. The BEng in Chemical Engineering develops your engineering skills with a firm grounding in chemistry.
The BEng in Chemical Engineering aims to Produce graduate engineers able to make a valuable contribution to society, equipped with the qualities and skills that are demanded by employers.Offering you the opportunity to obtain relevant industrial experience with a year-long work placement.
Programme Objectives
The BEng in Chemical Engineering aims to:

provide students with the opportunities to realise their academic potentials through relevant and planned learning experiences.
- provide a thorough grounding in the basic principles of chemical engineering, with strong technical education and communication skills that will enable students to have successful careers in a wide range of industrial and professional environments.
- provide students with appropriately structured curricula, combining teaching in theoretical and knowledge-based principles with practical skills training.
- prepare students for rapidly changing technological environments with the core knowledge central to multidisciplinary development and personal improvement throughout theory professional careers.
- provide an up-to-date and professionally accredited education satisfying the institutional requirements of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
- produce graduate engineers with the qualities and skills that are in demand by employers and who can make a valuable contribution to society in general, and
- offer students the opportunity to obtain relevant industrial experience by providing the option of a sandwich year.

Admissions Requirements
Direct entry requirements to the programme for international certificate holders:

Minimum grades of C in three A-Level subjects including Math and Chemistry. English language: Minimum grade C in GCSE or IELTS (Academic): Minimum of 5.0 overall / TOEFL (iBT): Minimum of 64 overall |

Minimum 24 points, with minimum score of 3 in Maths and Chemistry at Higher Level or 4 at Standard Level. English language: Minimum score of 5 in English at Standard level or minimum score of 4 in English at Higher level or IELTS (Academic): Minimum of 5.0 overall/TOEFL (iBT): Minimum of 64 overall |

*Applicants with less than the above entry requirements can still apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Exemption from Foundation Year: Applicants with IELTS (Academic) 5.0 or TOEFL (iBT) 64 and IC3 can be exempted from the Foundation Modules if they also pass the MU Math exit test. *Applicants who successfully completed the foundation year in any other higher education institution can be admitted directly to the programme.
