Director’s message

 

Welcome to the Faculty of Transport and Logistics, there has never been a time when logistics and supply chain management have had such prominence in our lives. Whether it be the supply of Covid 19 vaccines and personal protective equipment for the health sector or the availability of food in our supermarkets, successful supply chains are critical. With these in mind I welcome you to the Faculty of Transport and Logistics at Muscat University where we are involved in a range of teaching, research and consultancy activities to support the needs of industry in the sector. Our highly qualified staff team are keen to engage and offer the support and guidance that you may need in your quest for a relevant degree towards a rewarding career or for the needs of your business.

The Faculty of Transport and Logistics is unique in Oman. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the field of logistics, transport and supply chain management which are key components of the Oman 2040 vision and strategy. Our evolving research capability has resulted in both Research Council and industry funded projects related to the emerging needs of businesses in Oman and our researchers collaborate with others, both in Oman and globally.

Our approach to teaching and learning is student-centred. Support is available for students to engage effectively in the learning opportunities we offer through first-class learning facilities on campus and the online library and Virtual Learning Environment. Our undergraduate programmes offer year-long placement opportunities with key logistics and transport players in Oman enabling students to have quality work experience to assist them in their pursuit of a rewarding career upon graduation.

The objectives of the faculty are:

  1. To be the leading provider of academically excellent and industry-relevant programmes in Logistics, Transport and Supply Chain Management in Oman.
  2. To engage in and disseminate quality research in collaboration with industry and academic partners globally.
  3. To support industry with topical and relevant executive education programmes.
