Director’s message

 

Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) which is one of the founding MU faculties. At FET, we aim to develop graduates who are ready to bring disruptive changes into their professions and their respective industries. Our undergraduate programmes are unique in the sense that you will be working in industry for a full academic year (3rd academic year) during which you become familiar with the real work environment and gain workplace skills and experience required for your career.

As an emerging faculty with our campus at the center of Muscat, we provide exclusive opportunities that build relations with industries while leveraging creativity, critical thinking, technical skills, leadership, and ethical practices to provide innovative solutions for complex problems. We work closely with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), SHEILL, OQ, Schlumberger, Oman-LNG, OMIFCO, Sohar Port, Nama, Be’ah, EJAAD, CC Energy Development, TR Engineering, and Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP); many provide direct input to teaching, seminars, public lectures, workshops, as well as regular feedback on curriculum and new programmes’ development.

We have a good mix of top-notch academics and researchers with a wide array of engineering interests such as “Energy and Environment”, “Carbon Capture, Storage, and Utilization”, “Process Techno-economics”, “Nanoengineering & Nanomedicine”, “Hydrogen”.

The current situation is full of opportunities so be well prepared to grab them. Your entry into the Faculty of Engineering is a genuine indicative of your readiness to take up this challenge. The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) is committed to develop engineering talents and technology specialists for the current vibrant industry and the community. We strive to prepare graduates who can engineer solutions that are mindful of the global, economic, environmental, and societal impacts. FET team is composed of highly engaged individuals with a dedication to student success, research excellence, and innovative engineering solutions. We are strongly devoted to preparing successful graduates with long-lasting careers in accordance with the current and future employer demands. 

 

In the era of 4IR, our society and industries require integrated solutions from engineering and technology to create value through state-of-the-art, efficient, and sustainable technologies. Therefore, our curriculum is specially designed to cover emerging areas of technology, innovation, and sustainability. Our mission is to provide high-quality learning experience for our students through our innovative activity-led learning approach, industrial guest lectures, real-life projects, experiments and access to industry-standard units, equipment packages, and computer programs. 

The objectives of the faculty are:

  2. To promote the intellectual, industrial, and economic strength of the Sultanate
