MU wins the TRC financial support in the Covid 19 research program
Muscat University academic research team won the financial support from The Research Council for the research program on the “Corvid 19” virus. The Scientific Research Council revealed the names of ten research and academic institutions that were able to win financial support for the research proposals that were submitted in march 2020. Funding amounts the reached 310,000 Omani riyals were distributed to cover the total cost of projects in the health field which reached about 160,000 thousand Omani riyals and remaining amount of 150,000 Omani riyals will be distributed among other areas.
Muscat University submitted three research proposals. The first proposal is submitted by Dr Ahmed Maher & Dr Nicolas Hubbard on Coping with the impact of the COVID-19 virus pandemic on supply chains in Oman: a resilience-healthiness diagnostic decision-making tool in the Industry 4.0. The second research proposal submitted by Dr Zeinab Zohny & Dr Nasiru Zubairu on Severity Disease Prediction in COVID-19 Patients using Machine Learning. The third proposal is on State-of-the-art analysis to COVID19 early-diagnosis, vaccination, and treatment submitted by Dr Maan Hayyan. Financial support will be transferred to research institutions within two weeks, so that these projects can start work immediately, and all funded projects are scheduled to be implemented over a period of three to twelve months, and it is hoped to obtain practical results to reduce the effects of the pandemic virus Corona Coffed 19. It is worth noting that the Steering Committee of the Corona Virus Research Program “Covid 19” is chaired by the Scientific Research Council, and with the membership of specialists and experts from various research institutions in the Sultanate. The Council is focusing on the Corona Virus pandemic and with this research program it seeks to achieve many different goals such as supporting researchers technically and financially to enable them to conduct high-quality research in the Sultanate
