Programme Overview

The University’s International Foundation Programme offers students who complete this programme, and who meet English language requirements, the opportunity to gain entry for full-time undergraduate study at a growing number of well-established UK higher education institutions. To date, partners who accept students from the Muscat University International Foundation Programme include Aston University, The University of Hull, The University of Sunderland, Leeds Beckett University and The University of Central Lancashire.

Programme Objectives

The Programme aims to equip students with a set of academic literacies needed for success on an undergraduate degree. At the same time, students raise their proficiency in English to a level required to study a degree taught exclusively through the medium of English. The Programme gives students introductory-subject-specific knowledge of the undergraduate degree the student has chosen to study. In addition, it provides them with the mathematical problem-solving skills and IT skills required for their degree and their future workplace. The MU Foundation Programme enhances students’ soft skills through practices such as collaborative and reflective learning, critical reading, writing and thinking. Finally, the Foundation Programme acculturates students into the academic environment of a higher education institution.
